ORBOST MILKMAN ON KOKODA

Charlie Lyn tells the story that when he was a young boy
growing up in Orbost there was a milk man who brought
the family bottles of milk each day. His name was Albert
Moore who spent his life as an officer of the Salvation
Army.

Years later, Charlie attended a Kokoda ceremony in PNG
and met his old milkman from Orbost. He asked why he
was there. The milkman said he was on Kokoda Track.

Charlie asked what unit he was in. He was told the Salvation
Army. Suddenly the penny dropped. So you are Chaplain
Major Albert Moore who ran the tea and biscuit stand at
Uberi for the soldiers coming down the track.
Thank God for the Salvos.
